Citing The Knot Atlas

From Knot Atlas
Jump to navigationJump to search

The Knot Atlas is a collaborative effort. Thus when citing the Knot Atlas (as a whole) elsewhere, no authors should be mentioned. Thus the following citation styles are appropriate,

[7] The Knot Atlas, http://katlas.org/.
[KAT] The Knot Atlas, http://katlas.org/wiki/Main_Page.

while the next style is wrong

[CM] Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan, The Knot Atlas, http://katlas.org/.

When citing individual pages within the Knot Atlas it may be appropriate to date them, as the content of pages changes with time (and yet full page histories are saved so it is easy to go back to past versions):

[KAT1] The Knot Atlas: The Multivariable Alexander Polynomial, retrieved October 14, 2005, from http://katlas.org/wiki/The_Multivariable_Alexander_Polynomial.
[KAT2] The Knot Atlas: K11n77, retrieved October 14, 2005, from http://katlas.org/wiki/K11n77.
